Poseidon is the ancient Greek god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. He is one of the twelve Olympian gods and the brother of Zeus and Hades. Often depicted with a trident, Poseidon is a powerful and tempestuous deity, known for controlling the oceans and seas. He could calm or stir up storms and was both a protector of sailors and a bringer of destruction when angered.

Poseidon was also associated with horses, having created the first horse according to some myths. As a god of the sea, he ruled over all bodies of water, and his domain extended to both the deep oceans and freshwater sources like rivers and lakes. While Zeus ruled the sky and Hades the underworld, Poseidon held dominion over the vast and mysterious seas, making him one of the most important gods in ancient Greek religion.
