Shu and Tefnut are ancient Egyptian deities often associated with the creation and the elements of air and moisture.
Shu is the god of air, wind and sunlight. He is one of the primordial deities, emerging from the primeval waters of chaos at the beginning of creation. Shu is often depicted as a man with a feather on his head, symbolizing air and lightness. He played a key role in separating the sky from the earth and establishing the order of the world.
Tefnut is the goddess of moisture, rain and humidity. She is the sister and wife of Shu and together they represent the essential elements for life and balance in the cosmos. Tefnut is often depicted as a lioness or as a woman with the head of a lioness symbolizing her fierce and nurturing aspects. Like Shu, she helped in the creation of the world by contributing to the separation of the sky and earth.
